Hi all, mate has a '60 F100 with six cylinder and has a 292 with Fordomatic (bad knees) to install, does anyone have pics and any info on this swap? In Australia, '60 pickups are pretty rare, so any help will be much appreciated. Thanks, Al.

A couple of general items. The front cover for a truck is different from the car and somewhat different from a Tbird but the Tbird may work (no experience). The engine in a truck has a front mount off the front cover. The rear mount is on the bellhousing for a truck (ears off the bellhousing... If your mate is using parts out of a car , the car had side engine mounts and a mount on the trans. That is the limit of my knowledge regarding the engine mounting in a truck.

Also, if the truck had a manual transmission and he is switching to an automatic, the rear axle gear ratio may not be the best for the automatic transmission and may need to be switched.

I used to have a US 1960 F100 with a 292 and a Fordomatic and it had 3.70 gears, for whatever that's worth...I would think lower gears would be more dependent on whether it was a 6 or 8 cylinder, also.

I have a 56 f100 with a 292. The front engine mounts look to be much the same as the 1960.. I found there were about 3 variations that look much the same. When I decided to fit a harmonic dampener it dragged on the original engine mount. The earlier engines had no dampener. So i had to hunt for another.. Got one from a gent in Canada. Hope this is of some help stuey

There are a variety of front mounts out there depending on the application. Here's a link to a video that does a good job of explaining the differences. front mount stylesAs the others have stated, if the engine you are using came out of a car, you'll need a truck front cover, truck bellhousing and truck oil pan. Ram's horn exhaust manifolds are a good choice in this situation to eliminate the crossover exhaust pipe.
