Thanks Paul, I just received the clip today, the cable just plugs into the end. My speedometer is working fine without it, I’ll put it into the glove box for now 😊.

The top end of the cable core would have a flat tang on which the slotted end of the rubber connector fits.  The "square" on the other end goes into the speedometer.  Replacement cores would have the conditional square end and would not use the adaptor.

Hi HH, what is the mechanism that secures the cable to the clip?

You may not have this clip if the cable has been replaced at some point.  Some replacement cables have the usual square end instead of the clip.

The clip pictured goes on the tip  of  the speedo  inner cable and inserts into the speedometer head.

I understand these clips were used to connect the speedometer cable to the speedometer housing on 55 56 T-Birds and probably passenger cars. I spoke to Hill’s T-Bird parts, they have the clip in stock but the parts person i spoke to said he didn’t know how to connect it to the cable. Does anyone have knowledge of this?
