Based on the part numbers from the Ford and Lincoln catalogs, the FYB and LYB oil pump inlet tubes are different.  There’s a good chance that the inlet tube from the 1954 239 and 256 FYB engines could be adapted or modified to fit the LYB engine with just a little bit of work.

Another option is to just modify what you have using AN hoses and fittings.  Here’s an example of what was done on a Ford Y.  A similar setup could be done on the LYB engine.

Thanks for the number.  With the basic 6639 basic part number now available, it does come up in the 1959 Ford I.D. Catalog on my end.  Without it being in the 1959 Ford illustrated catalog, that’s a tough one to find.  Might need the Lincoln parts catalog to get an exact part number.  But here’s the excerpt from the 1959 Ford I.D. catalog showing it for the Ford 239 Y engines.  If someone has a Lincoln parts catalog, then it can be determined if both the Ford Y and the LYB engines in 1954 used the same oil pump to oil pan tube.

Actually I am not sure. Now I think it's front. It's at the mechanic now and I don't remember when I took it off. He did show me engine and the oil pump is on the driver's side rear of the engine and the mounting holes for the pick up tube would be in front. I'll go out to my garage and look into the manual to verify, but I do believe it's front

The 1954 239 FYB and 256 MYB (Ford and Mercury) engines also had the two piece oil pump inlet tubes and screens similar in basic design to those on the 1952-54 317 LYB engines if removing the rear sump and front sump oil pans from the equation.  What I find interesting is when looking at the 1959 Ford parts manual, there are not two numbers listed for the 1954 FYB oil pump inlet tubes but just one number.  No note in the parts catalog regarding there being two pieces.  Here’s the excerpt from the Ford parts manual but I’m sure that the LYB inlet tube would be a different part number although the basic number (6622) would be the same.
