They seem pretty beat up. Where can new ones be found?

It's an engine block coolant drain cock. If your local auto parts store can't help you, look up part # 8115 55/57 drain cock, ($5.95) at concoursparts.com. If yours opens and closes and doesn't leak, just clean it up (don't remove it). It looks like it either has grease/road grime caked on it or undercoating. 

You can probably get them at your local hardware store. They are there for when you need to drain the block.

Here's a better ideal for a drain plug.It's a marine item made by Mercury outboard.  I replaced all my drain plugs, including the radiator, with them.  You can even attach a hose to it.  You can get it at a marine supply store, ebay. or Amazon.  The last ones I bought were through ebay.  Also see it under the Quicksilver brand

Part 8115 (Concours) does show an external nipple to which a hose could be attached. I will look at mine tomorrow to see if it also has the nipple (I can't remember if it does/doesn't). Having the nipple for attaching a hose would be convenient/less mess, but not a deal breaker. I would be more concerned about the drain cock leaking, if removed/replaced. 

NPD has has the wing style in brass with attached sleeve for a hose - about $7.  They work great and being able to attach a hose makes for a no mess job.    https://www.npdlink.com/product/drain-cock-radiator-brass-14-inch-npt/135249/51491

Now we're talking. I think I'll grab a couple and replace these. I cleaned them up yesterday and they look pretty haggard. I'm assuming a little silicone when installing the new ones?

Here’s another style of drain petcock available in ¼” NPT.  These are solid brass and available at the local hardware store and McMaster-Carr.
