I have a 292 with FOM,  On the fuel pump, I noticed some leaking from the center bolted area with all the screws,  I did initially clean it and drove it to see if it leaked further, it seems  that it does. Someone told be to tighten the screws from the bottom. Either way Im preparing to have to replace it.

It is a DA pump- I would like to keep it the same.  I saw recommendations on replacement pumps, and recos for these?

I found a couple including a Carter that claims to be rebuilt to "todays" gas.

I also found a rebuild kit at about 100 bucks.

Thoughts- open to suggestions.

Also I didnt drive the car for a few days, maybe five days and got a pretty harsh  gas fume stench,
Being this is a wagon, Did go to a vented type gas cap. it had a non-vented and I drove it with that for the trip. We had a very, very hot days recently and now it cooled back down to normal. Since I got it it have a bit of a "fumes smell" going on when I did a fill up.

Mine had fumes when full only and I had to replace the sender gasket. Not sure on the wagon but the car has a separate line for a vent. Cap is sealed.

Thanks. I actually bought a new seal for the sending unit by chance. Wagons have no tube like the sedans and hardtops. This vented cap.

I below and tightened the screws on the pump. It’s a not glass version. Also cleaned it more to see if can spot the seeping area.

Dual Action. Well it’s the pump with the vacuum connectors on the top.

My 56 Mercury has the dual action fuel pump. I didn't have leaks, but it wasn't pumping fuel consistently. I bought a rebuild kit that came with both diaphragms, all new check valves, and all the gaskets. I have not had a problem since. No pumping issues and good vacuum for the wipers. It was not hard to rebuild it. One thing to make sure of is that when you reinstall it, make sure you get the arm in the right spot.
That is my story about that.
