I took my broken windshield and seal out of my 55 crown victoria and the replacement i bought 10 years ago is the wrong one. My question is where did you get your glass? I know shipping these days is outrageous and only going to get worse( thanks joe)  the winshield i took out measures 60” long and 16 1/4” wide.  I know the one I was going to install is 58”  x 17”. Im thinking its for a 52-54 maybe, im just guessing here.i bought a windshield for my 56 from auto city classics years ago and was well pleased with it. New one for the crown is about $479 with a seal and the shipping.  Any advice?

52-54 windshield are not wrap around so it isn't that'

I'm not sure, but I believe the 55 Victoria/skyliner/convertible windshields were different than the rest of the 55 line

I had to rethink the “wrap around” windshield ,you are right. It must be for a higher roof line like a sedan. Will probably try to find someone who needs a windshield, just have to make sure of the measurements.  Thanks

The 55 Fairlane 2dr. hardtops were nicknamed " tall tops" by some and were taller than the 55 Crown Victoria and convertible. In 56 , the Victoria 2 dr. ht and the crown were the same height. I would like to add that I checked with Auto City Classic on glass and found that clear windshields and back glass were not available at the time. Only tinted or shaded. I prefer clear and am probably one of the only ones who does..

Thanks for the info. That explains why it doesnt fit, when i bought it the guy told me his dad bought it for his 55 hardtop so i assumed it would fit my crown victoria. I like the clear better also .i dont have sunvisors yet so maybe tinted would help.

Should you try to sell your 55 tall top windshield, I believe the 56 Victoria 4 door ht. also uses the same tall top windshield. The very tall and narrow vent windows are a giveaway.

Geo56, you are correct, the 56 4 door Victoria uses the higher windshield.
