Does anyone have a source for the "Deflector Panel" that is directly behind the front bumper?  It attaches to the bottom of the grill panel and runs completely from fender to fender,  Mine is metal and has some rust on either end.  Would like to replace the entire piece but cant find anyone who carries it.  Thanks

To my knowledge, no steel repro part is available.  We tried to get one for a friend some time ago and came up empty.  He did have a fibreglass piece, it fit good and once painted you wouldn't know the difference. It's not in any cataglogs I have, you might want to call the various suppliers to see if they have them.

This guy has lots of parts and he may have a used one - Adrian, 570-709-0823.  He is okay, I have used him.

Concours Parts has what you want for $90.00.  Part number 8156 is shown for 55/56 T-Bird.  No mention of material being metal or glass.

When I bought my TBird, a previous owner had smoked holes in my front panel with a torch.  I guess they were trying to solve an overheating issue?  These parts come up on EBay with some frequency.  Many of them are rusty. Original panels go for around $250.   I got lucky and bought one from a friend.  Unless you have the body off the frame, that part is very difficult to replace. You must remove the bumper, all the grill and the front valance.  You also will have to remove the driver's side air duct to get to the horn bolts.  The bolts and nuts holding it the radiator support are difficult and almost always rusted too.   Before you attempt this job, buy a new bolt kit from Casco.  I took me quite some time to swap mine out.

Unless I am mistaken, 55charliebird is looking for the panel in front of that panel.

If he is looking for that piece, there is a guy  on the AACA site selling one.

Also try Hill's Reproductions or CASCO.  They have a lot of used parts

Good luck.  Seems to be hard to find some body parts.  I can get some for my Fairlane but the most important parts I need I cant really locate so I am stuck trying to locate a 4dr parts car to chop the pieces out of.

The part in question is 8310 (Deflector Assy - Radiator Air) shown on the ILL for a 55 BIRD, correct?

Or could it be 17779 (Deflector - FRT BPR Stone)?

8156 is a finish molding.
