When I built my 312 years ago I was a lot more "racy" and had the heads machined for dual springs. Now I want to remove the inner springs to maybe help preserve the B7A-6250-C camshaft. What do I have to do to keep the base of the spring from walking around on the head? Is there a valve spring seat available? To correct the spring height are there keepers to compensate? Thanks.

There are two styles of spring seats available which increases the options in regards to availability of the various sizes.  One style is a cup while the other style is called a locater.  A cup style locates the spring using the outer O.D. while the locater style uses the spring I.D. in which to center the spring to the guide. You would need to know the machined guide measurement and the spring O.D. or I.D. depending upon the type of locator you plan on using. Most spring seat cups or locators are about 1/16" thick which has to be taken into account when setting up the valve spring installed heights.  Here are pictures of each.

And not to be left out of the equation are the valve locks.  They are available in a number of offsets to both increase and decrease installed valve spring heights.  Here is a picture showing how the locks can affect the installed valve spring height.
