The D-1527AA was both centrifugal and vacuum -

Found on this thread - http://forums.y-blocksforever.com/Topic69942.aspx

This is two holes in the hull of my battleship but I am learning.

I cannot find an instruction sheet for the Rotovance for applications before 1957 but on my '56 312 it is connected to manifold vacuum. The FORM B235 Service Manual pictured above only really shows the Governor model 1352 and the 1348 and very little of the 1324. I have never seen, or any reference to, a service manual for the 1324 or 1400. The 1324 and 1400 are both vacuum advance and Dual Point. I do not have any specification sheets of the 1348 nor the 1352, I believe they may not have dual point and one or both likely does not have vacuum advance (1352?) as it is used to control the Governor.

Seems odd that a master parts catalog would not have it.  Different price lists and condensed catalogs, too?

Oh, I don't have a Ford MPC.  It is a Holley MPC that I am looking at.

It wouldn't be listed in the FORD MPC as it was aftermarket. D-1527AA is the HOLLEY PN.

You need a HOLLEY carb catalog of the period.

My MPC is no help for this one.
I don't even see D-1527AA listed in the table of contents but it only goes to 1956.  I also don't see it in the 1957 Condensed Catalog, neither as a current item or supersession.  Nor do I see it in the Master Price List.  These last two are dated Feb. 15,1957.  Maybe that distributor was newer in the product line than February 15 1957.

THANX! for sharing this info -

How did HOLLEY differentiate between the LOM vacuum signal (modified manifold and DUAL ADVANCE vacuum signal (ported vacuum). especially if one DIST MODEL was used across the PASS CAR LOM design cut-off (1956)?

So all models were DUAL ADVANCE design?

The Service sheet has the D1527AA for a 272 engine.
It would be interesting to know what instruction there was to bypass the Spark Control circuit of the carb.
-- I would think just not connecting the vacuum line to this it will work as centrifugal. Just not a good off the line compensation.
This photo shows how the weights and vacuum is assembled. (BTW I read somewhere but I do not know the vacuum canisters are leather! )

As you can see the Advance can be adjusted a small amount through the little cap on the left side here and turning the nut to shorten the travel or lengthen it for the diaphragm.

There is another model that followed the 13xx as in the service book (shown above). It is the 1400. It has a green label instead of the black. It is for all the Ford Lincoln Merc Engines 1955-1960. It is very much the same except how the weights and vacuum diaphragms are made - assembled in one part instead of separate pieces.

I have a Holley master parts catalog that might have that info.  I'll look if I remember.

MPCs and service manuals are often on eBay.

"Most likely will have to find an original catalog."

An instruction manual is what you need. You'll see how the advance mechanism works! It's different to say the least and very innovative.
