My 54 has the original switch. I always keep the dash light bright so not sure the dimmer even works. In addition, I put LED's in for all the dash bulbs.

When I converted my 53 Years ago I used the original Switch. You will need to disconnect the Wire to Resistor for Dash Lights and run direct 12 Volts from a Terminal on Switch.The dimmer will no longer work but U will have bright Dash Lights. Otherwise use One from a 12 Volt Car like 1956.

can i use a 56 passenger headlight switch in my 54 ?? i wish to retain the dash light dimmer capability .
