No, this won't turn the pump anymore, I never heard it run, came to me apart.

The higher viscosity requires more effort to turn the pump. The driveshaft  is not strong enough to turn the pump w/o failure.

Same thing with the distributor drive, if binding the gear pin is usually sacrificial.

I have seen a shaft twisted like a pretzel.

ARP! (and ascertain correct length and engagement)

I just installed an ARP shaft in my 292.  It's bulletproof.  It's also made a little too long.  You may need to grind the flat end to fit your engine or the oil pump will bind.
