My 1955 292 valley cover uses the rear down draft tube. It has a large flat oil baffle plate about mid way inside of the cover. One side of the baffle is broken off. I plan to use the down tube. Do I need this baffle or can I remove it?

That baffle redirects drawn air from the oil filler cap from the lifter valley into the cylinder heads for more complete crankcase venting purposes.

Do I need this baffle or can I remove it? If You have that Valley Cover with Baffle You might consider doing away with the Tube and install PCV System using the Hole where the Tube was. Those Covers are the Ones others are looking for in order to install PCV System. Regular Passenger Cars don't have the Baffle.

If You have that Valley Cover with Baffle You might consider doing away with the Tube and install PCV System using the Hole where the Tube was. Those Covers are the Ones others are looking for in order to install PCV System. Regular Passenger Cars don't have the Baffle. That's the cover I used. The teapot fitting used with the later pcv systems fits perfectly.

Can you please post a photo of the PVC fitting you are talking about? I am running a 1957 Ford Iron 4V manifold with a Holley carb. Where do the PVC connections go?

Can you please post a photo of the PVC fitting you are talking about? I am running a 1957 Ford Iron 4V manifold with a Holley carb. Where do the PVC connections go? I can't post a Picture because the Car was sold. Where the Road Draft Tube goes on the Valley Cover is replaced by a Grommet and PCV Valve. Run the Hose to the Carb. Is there a bigger plugged fitting on the Holley which is where the Hose goes.? Most of the newer Holley Carbs have a hookup for PCV. If not You can buy a Spacer Plate with PCV Hookup or drill and Tap for a Fitting as close to Center of Manifold. as possible. The One shown in the previous Posting is from an early 60's Y-Block. I cant remember the size of the Grommet but someone else will probably Post more Info. The Valve itself is one of several. Someone will post that Info also. Its been several Years since I did mine and I don't recall the Parts I used.

The forward baffle is the one being discussed, correct? The rear baffle is a splash guard for either the road draft tube (BIRD - 57 FORD 8V - Or S/C) or the later 292 PCV System
