These are almost impossible to find.  I looked for one for a long time and couldn't find one.  I bought a repro for a TBird (they are longer) and remarked it to the stock sedan markings.  Then cut off the excess.

What happened to the original?  Rusted away ?  If by chance that's whats happened, it indicates that the engine was run a long time with plugged crankcase ventilation.. The incoming air comes thru the screen of the oil fill cap on a stock engine. This is often a seriously neglected maintenance area, resulting in there being no crankcase ventilation, moisture buildup & sludge formation..

Not Ted - but just go to the classifieds page, click on Post Topic" at top left of page and enter the info.  Then click on "Post New Topic" at lower left.

I have the original dipstick, but the small cap that is swedged at the upper end of the stick where it covers the tube is missing.  I am surprised that no one has reproduced the passenger car dip stick since there has to be more passenger cars out there than Thunderbirds.  I guess I will just buy the Thunderbird stick and modify it.

Is the 57 312 dipstick different than other Y-blocks? I do have some from 56 292s.  Dave
