I used the Newport kit on my 55 and would suggest to remove the front seat to make it easier to install.

When doing the change, I strongly suggest removing the front seat.  Makes lot of room to work.

I am also considering converting wipers to electric. Who sells the Newport brand?

I used Newport. 5 Years with no problems. Get the Knob conversion so You can use your original Knob. I wouldn't bother with their "intermittent" kit.
The only problem I had was working under the Dash I got disoriented as to up and down and installed Bracket upside down first time. Otherwise the Conversion is straight forward. Use an Inline Fuse for Power.

  

I've used Newport Engineering conversions a couple of times and had good results.  They fit and they work.  Couldn't ask for any more.  I used the Vintiques kit once and couldn't get it to "park" correctly.  Newport is a little more expensive but there were no flying tools during install and my language was respectable.

Hello, I have the original vacuum wiper system and really want to convert to a 12 volt kit ; anyone have any recommendations where to get one ? The car is a 1956 ford Fairlane town sedan 4 door . Appreciate any help/ direction anyone can point me in !
