I used the Newport kit on my 55 and would suggest to remove the front seat to make it easier to install.

Just google Newport Engineering

I have their units in three cars and all work very well.

When doing the change, I strongly suggest removing the front seat.  Makes lot of room to work.

I used Newport. 5 Years with no problems. Get the Knob conversion so You can use your original Knob. I wouldn't bother with their "intermittent" kit.
The only problem I had was working under the Dash I got disoriented as to up and down and installed Bracket upside down first time. Otherwise the Conversion is straight forward. Use an Inline Fuse for Power.

I am also considering converting wipers to electric. Who sells the Newport brand?

I've used Newport Engineering conversions a couple of times and had good results.  They fit and they work.  Couldn't ask for any more.  I used the Vintiques kit once and couldn't get it to "park" correctly.  Newport is a little more expensive but there were no flying tools during install and my language was respectable.Smile
