Anyone looking for a good running 312 out of 56 Ranch Wagon? I've been putting around 40 miles a day on it. I just installed a pertronix ignition, but think I'm going with another 4.6 swap. The three speed shifts ok, does a little pop when you take off from a stop. Has OD, but the wires leading to it are not hooked up.

Not trying to cause trouble either, but if's a factory 312, it should have a T-85 0/d trans. In 56, I think the 292's were still T-86's. Google them, you'll see the difference in the side cover.

Yup. Even if it was originally equipped with a 312 from the factory, that's now sixty (60!) years ago. I'm glad that there's a group like this that appreciates this stuff.

I would still be interested in it even if its a 292.

The three speed does have OD, but the solenoid has been unhooked. When the oil pan was dropped awhile back, it had the ecz main caps stamped in. From what I've read, that and a flange on the crank are about the only way to tell. And these ultra sweet badges on the front fenders.
