You can buy repro Rubbers and there is also a Metal reinforcement Piece that the mounting Bolts go through and then screw into the existing Holes in the inner Fenders. Tee-Bird.com sells them as well as most of the other Companies that sell Parts for these Cars. I have never heard of these not being used on the 56 Models although I don't doubt Carl's knowledge. The upper seal on the Rad Support was installed to keep hot Air under the Hood for winter driving according to another Member. I removed mine. Also was not aware the Shields under the Engine were there for any other reason than keeping Water from splashing into the Generator.I have a Pair I cleaned up and painted but never installed. I may try installing them and see if that helps with Coolant Temp. Always learning something new on this Site.

56 Roger. Do you know where the rubber slash guards for the A-arm can be purchased? Mine are missing but attaching holes in the fender wells are there. If not maybe a photo of what they look like with demensions if possible.Thanks The holes are there on a 56 Ford for the a arm splash shields but they weren't used on the 56 like the 55.I think Ford left them off to get more air flow through the engine compartment plus cost cutting Ford also had a service bulletin to remove the splash guard above the radiator also to get more air flow through the engine compartment Carl .

I put the splash pans back on my 37 scruby p/u and noticed less heat coming into the cab so I put them back on my 55,they do keep tools and bolts from going to the center of the car when dropped. I would like to put the deflector on top of the core support but would have to cut it up since I I moved the radiator in front of the core support like for a six to get more room for the 351-W so I will keep that part until the 292 goes in which will not be as soon as I would like it to be.

They are made in Texas and are plastic and split horizonal. I purchased one when I was having over heat problems. A smaller water pump pulley from a 302 eliminated my problems (thanks greenbird56). Like I usually do (over engineer) I spent some time sanding/fill priming to make it look like steel before test fitting. Well my power steering pulley was not the flat style, which these need or no PS, and the lower half of the shroud hit it, a good thing I didn't finish filling, priming, and sanding it. So I didn't use it. E-mail me at gmc6power and I'll send you photos if you want to see it and if you want will come up with a price and it be very fair I can guarantee that as I keep way too much.

The splash pans acted as a fan shroud on the 54/56 Ford cars, most people take them off thinking they are only to stop water from splashing up on to the engine. The cars hood acted as the other haft of the shroud this set up not only worked to direct more air thru the radiator but caused the clean air to flow over the exhaust manifolds keeping the engine compartment somewhat cooler.

I'm running a BeCool aluminum radiator, with a custom built shroud. They offer a shroud, but I had some clearance problems, but theirs would have probably worked. With any radiator, the shroud needs to cover the whole area, and the fan should be 1/2 to 2/3rd's in side. Opinions vary. Seal the shroud to the radiator, you need to move air through all of it. The A/C coil is putting hotter air into the radiator, so any cooling problems get worse. Especially in higher ambient temps, when you use the A/C.
