One of our members used this Holley 465 cfm on his T-bird - 4160 style with side hung bowls - and the hard lines look pretty good, but not stainless.

Mine has an older model Demon 525 - and I hard line plumbed it through a Delco fuel filter (GF62) ..... mounted in the location of the original T-bird glass bowl unit.

If you want the GM filter to look more "official" - they sell a FoMoCo canister to fit it........

The 1273 according to holley and pony carbs are in the 410 cfm range. I'm running one on my 292 1956 sunliner and so far it has been really good on gas mileage and performance.

Have you looked at something like this, from Tee-Bird products?

If I understand what you are trying to do correctly (big if, Im not as knowledgeable on these engines as most on here), this may work for you.  However, you will have to also add the t-bird style fuel filter, and get a new line from the pump to the filter assy, and the mounting tab for the filter assy too.

Thats basically what I did on my 56 Sunliner, as I wanted a more modern carb but wanted it to appear as original/correct as possible.  Plus its hard to find replacement fuel pumps or rebuild kits with the filter bowl on them.

After a quick google search, it appears that your carb is a 390 cfm.  Someone else can chime in to confirm for sure though.

Ive tried a lot of different carbs (I thought I had written/posted about it a long time ago, but havent searched) and ultimately decided on the holley 390 cfm as the best overall, which for me included appearance (we show the car once in a while and do some concours events).  Ive tried an edelbrock 600, the demon JR 525 with the goggle valve, a holley avenger (maybe 575 cfm?), and probably one other that Im forgetting.  Pros and cons to each, but ultimately the 390 was easiest to adapt.

Let me know if you want me to try to post some pics of my setup.

Have you considered using one of the later 4160 model carbs? The "generic" 390 cfm 4BBL Holley works pretty well on the motor you are trying to update.

The list 1273 holley is a 4150, it has it's quirks being 1st year of production, but it is full modern style holley. I cant find figures on the CFM and i havent been curious enough to throw calipers on the venturi but it's pretty small too. Basically the only things that make it different from an off the shelf carb is it runs side hung bowls typically found on a 4160, it has the old style bowl vent, and it runs a secondary powervalve.

As it is, i'm not really updating anything, if i was i'd run the edelbrock 553 tripower on my kitchen table. i just feel like this motor could really benefit from some more carb, but i'm trying to keep it as stock looking and smooth driving as possible. I figure this should look pretty close to original equipment to fool most, and should retain the tame characteristics  which my other daily so lacks.

My 1st post here. I'm not new to old rigs, my daily is a l79/m22 '65 el camino and ive been hamering on old tin for 20 years(P.S, same shaggy from HAMB). I had no intent to play with y blocks since i already have early olds, flathead ford, hemi, and 283 projects in the works but i found the right deal on a backup commuter car and here i am.

Anyway i'm looking to give my '59 galaxie 292 car  a stock looking and driving 4bbl treatment. I have the '57 holley pattern intake and a 1273 carb('57 t-bird), to my issue....

Are there any aftermarket stainless fuel lines that bolt in? First off are the ports on the '57 bird in the same place as a basic '59 292? Then i seem to see stuff on some of the websites that dont distinguish between carb models, or even motors(summit has a kit that says it works for the 6 thru the 352)

Any other tips on this conversion? Anyone tried converting them to a single powervalve or is that crazy-talk?
