Those pictures help a lot Ted, Thanks. I definitely have to get my wires routed back the way they are supposed to be.

I have used Taylor wires on a number of cars and never had a problem with them. Currently on four cars including 2 312's. Not sure if pre-made for a Y Block, always bought the universal kit so I can make whatever mods I want to.

FORD DEARBORN (5/8/2016)
Greetings to all: About 5 years ago I set out to find the best quality 7mm spark plug wires available and found a company called Magnecor specializing in OEM and race car wires. At that time their part number was 8700 listed under 57 Thunderbird as per my receipt. These are tailor made for the Y-block that indeed fit like a glove with a great stock appearance. The person I spoke to at Magnecor said these wires would be OK with ignition up-grades. Been on my 64 truck 5 years and are just as flexible as the day I bought them. They, however, are not cheap. I'll try to include their web site where there is very good information regarding spark plug wires. Hope this helps, JEFF................... http://www.magnecor.com/magnecor1/main.htm Thank you, these look like a good quality product. A little pricey but like they say, you get what you pay for..

My Thunderbird didn't have brackets and was a mess, the passenger side wires were zip tied to the trans dipstick. The brackets weren't all that hard to install with those wires and are well worth the effort. If you're not using a really high voltage coil, I would recommend a set of OEM style wires. I got lucky and got a good deal on mine at a silent auction at a multi-club event. The best thing other than being the correct lengths and having extra sleeves for insulation between the brackets is they came with instructions for which wire went where.

My old man gave me holy hell when I threw away the brackets when I replaced the plug wires on my 56 Ford. If you think those are bad you should try doing a late 90's-2000's Ford car or truck with a 4.6 modular engine. Nothing looks worse on an engine with the plug wires run like can of worms. Makes you wonder how the rest of it is put together.

The brackets in that picture are custom but they are in the stock locations. You can apply some die-electric grease to the wire where it goes through the stock brackets / rubber grommets to make them slide easier for fine adjustment during the initial installation. I really like the factory routing. One of the most out-of-the-way installations I've seen.
