How many guys replaced their spark plug wires , routed , used the brackets that came with the car and kept the wires the way they are supposed to be ? How did you do it if you did? I have never seen such a mess, looks like the wires were put on with the motor out of the car.

Probably just about everybody. Any other routing and the wires can contact the exhaust manifolds. At the factory the wires were installed before the engine was installed in the chassis. It is kind of a PITA to replace them with the engine in the car but it's doable, I've done it several times. The brackets and wire separators all need to be there.

They are actually quite simple once you've done it once or twice. You need to know the firing order and/or mark the wires where they come off the cap. Unplug the wires from the spark plugs and completely remove the cap and wire brackets they are held in place by bolts that usually come off easily. Now put everything on a bench and replace each wire with the one nearest the same length. Once all are done put the cap on and lay the wires out then fasten the brackets. Reconnect the plugs and you are done. Neat and clean with no chance of burning wires. If you use upgraded wires you may go a long time before you have to replace them again.
Y's guys rule! Looking for McCullouch VS57 brackets and parts. Also looking for 28 Chrysler series 72 parts. And early Hemi parts.

I don't know of any videos, here's a pic of the routing around the back showing the brackets. It's really pretty straightforward.

MG - get those plastic wire clip ons that have the numbers on them (two sets), and put one set at the cap end and one set at the plug end. Then do what Moonshadow noted above. Put the holders (4) on the wires and reinstall. Maybe a little tricky on the right (passenger)side as there is a lot of styff o that side, but it's doable. The brackets in that picture are custom but they are in the stock locations. You can apply some die-electric grease to the wire where it goes through the stock brackets / rubber grommets to make them slide easier for fine adjustment during the initial installation. I really like the factory routing. One of the most out-of-the-way installations I've seen.

My old man gave me holy hell when I threw away the brackets when I replaced the plug wires on my 56 Ford. If you think those are bad you should try doing a late 90's-2000's Ford car or truck with a 4.6 modular engine. Nothing looks worse on an engine with the plug wires run like can of worms. Makes you wonder how the rest of it is put together.
