I got this info on another forum for the proper switch. It's from a 1960-1966 Ford truck with auto: C1TF-7A247-A I found one online for 35 bucks NOS Maybe this helps someone else Jim

Yes if you look at the switch you will see an extra rest area on the arm the selector pin rests in . It allows the car to start in neut and park

Can anyone verify that a 58 Ford switch, which I'm told can start in PARK & NEUTRAL, will work on a 56 with Fordomatic? Thanks Jim
