.060 over 292 (301) steel crank, C1TE rods, Ross Forged racing pistons, clay smith (mummert) 272 cam, small letter G heads shaved .030, If I remember correctly ports were shaved .024 or whatever it figured to use any intake, pistons in the hole .010. Mummert Hi rise intake, 4150 holley, 1" 4 hole spacer on top of a 1" tapered spacer. Toploader decodes from a boss 429, Full spool 4.56 9" posi. Heavy duty drive shaft and ends, hose clamps around motor mounts. Not keeping those gears in for long though, no fun to drive on the street, but I had to try them, I have another limited slip posi with 3.50 and another with 3.25 I used to run so may set one of those up with something like 3.89's or 4.11

Went to the local track to test again with the 4.56 gears now that everything was beefed up, didn't break any thing and run 9.7's @ 72. something mph in the 8th. The cool part was I had people telliing me I lifted the front tires on a couple launches!

Yes Chuck, they seem to work very well, I just need to stop the rear end from twisting now!

Are you still using the leaf traction bars? If so they seem to be working very well. Cheap way to beat the hop. Chuck

I did pull off a 9.7 on the one pass I made and also stretched the ends of the drive shaft so the caps were loose in there, thats why I had to have a new heavy duty shaft made. Taking after Vic! Thats Y block torque!

Charlie, I have traction bars, the hop I am talking about is the car hopping at each gear change from the bite, not wheel hop. However as you may have seen on facebook I did more damage than thought once looked over at the garage which led to the second U joint breakage. I squatted my spring perches which i had added 1/4" plate to when I installed the rear years ago and also twisted the studs on one tire. I have sice made new spring perches and had a heavy duty drive shaft made. I think one thing that led to such hardship on my drive train was the fact that I did not let air out of my tires and was running like 40lbs, should have let them down to 18-20 which would have gave my drive train some cusion in the tires wrinkling instead of hitting so hard at each launch and shift!

Do you have traction bars yet? Caltracs will cure the hopping and keep the car street friendly.
