Thank you for the links to the shop manuals. I picked one up several years ago at a swap meet here in Kansas City. I would like to pick up the assembly manual and a couple other books that are still available as reprints and will be until a week before I'm ready to buy -LOL!

Most importantly I need to solve my rear window seal problem before I'll be ready to dive into this old heap. I like to know how I'm going to over come an issue before it's time to do battle. Thanks again for the information. -Dave.

lol I know what you mean.  I really need to stop waiting and go ahead and order the brake stuff I need to overhaul the brake system.  I will worry about the leaking radiator later.  Atleast with the brakes I can attempt to get mine to move under its own power.

Back about 1990, when I had my '64 Galaxie, I bought a reprint of the factory shop manual from one of the restoration parts vendors. The cheap plastic bindings of that book literally fell apart with in a few months of buying it. Took the book apart, used a three hole punch and put it into the 3 ring binder where it still is today.

This points out why I like doing business in person, so you can see how cheap the over priced stuff your buying is. Guess it doesn't matter how we get there as long as we get there. And the "there" is on the road enjoying our old cars. If I hadn't been able to find what I wanted, then probably would have gone the CD route. Even some of those seem over priced for what they are.

So, the next step will be finding a Saturday to spend in the garage cleaning all the junk out that is naturally drawn to an unused parked car. Last time I saw the sixty it was in there somewhere -LOL!, Dave.

The books I found at those prices were offered by Dennis Carpenter, Macs, Concours, and even from Lloyds Auto Lit and Faxon Auto Lit.  but when I was looking it was like three years ago and I said I wouldn't pay that much money for these books so I hopped on ebay and got a cd version of the '49 to '59 ford parts and illustration guide, '70 to '79 Ford/Lincoln/Mercury parts and illustration guide, and '79 to '89 F100 thru F550 parts and illustration guide CDs for $30 after shipping.

Since then I have not looked at the books so I don't know what prices they are at now or if the places I listed above that were selling them even offer them anymore.  They weren't even original books but reprints.  Just like how they wanted $60 for a reprint shop manual for '56 when I got my original one off ebay for $15 with free shipping.  Down side is this book is hard to use as its so old and worn the book keeps wanting to tear at the spine.

Rusty, I thought about the CD version, but guess I'm just old enough that I prefer real, physical things that can be held in the hand. Besides no electricity required to use a book and best of all easier to use than microfiche. Plus these books are drilled, they may wind up in my catalog rack, if I take them off my desk. Finally Rusty, if these parts books had been as expensive as the ones you were looking at, I probably would still just be wanting. -Dave.
