I noticed my own email and PM’ing were not working so I’ve done the following to see if it makes a difference.
While logged in, went to the ‘gear’ in the upper right, selected ‘edit profile’, selected ‘Contact’, and then scrolled down and added my email address at the Public email line.  I suspect without an email address in that spot, private messaging will not work so I’ll be the test case.

Ted when you first asked for someone to try sending a PM I clicked on your profile.  You do not have a PM button.  Mine is next to the follow button. I thought you would be one of the more sought after PM recipients so I thought that you may have disabled that function so as to fave some free space on your computer.  I looked again today and there is still no PM button on your profile.

I am very hesitant to select my email in the public email option. It may become visible to everyone, even to those who are not registered and that can open up yourself to scammers. If there was a way to make it only available to other members or even only to friends on the site, then I would be OK with it.
