hello, I have a F100 truck 1957 with a 6-cylinder, 4 speed on the floor, I have the chance to buy a 292 with C2AE6015D code should be designed for a truck from 1962 to 1964 .... my question is, - It is easy to make the change !! - Is what the bellhousing should be changed !! I was looking for a yblock V8 in the same year (272) but I wonder if the change is feasible !! Thank you for your help to all !!

The 292 should fit without any problems. You will need V8 mounts from a 57 and will need a bellhousing from a V8 truck. Since I am not familiar with the trucks, someone else will have to help on any other changes, such a throttle connections, Z bar changes, etc. 292 and 272 blocks are all the same outside, regardless of year. Don't forget, you'll also need a V8 emblem for your grille.

If the early trucks are like the later trucks, it is not quite a bolt in replacement. You are going to have to do something about the front motor mount at the frame.

You know a modern 5 speed behind a dressed up six would be very different. Unless you're looking for balls out performance the six can be made to run quite well. Dress up and performance parts show up on EBAY from time to time. If the truck is as nice as it looks I think I'd stay with the six. Chuck
Y's guys rule! Looking for McCullouch VS57 brackets and parts. Also looking for 28 Chrysler series 72 parts. And early Hemi parts.

Its not all that bad, I did one in my 58. if you have a hydraulic clutch its a non issue. you say you have the 4 speed, is it a T98? if so bells are plentyful for those. you will have to change throttle linkage (I used a pedal assembly from an original truck that came with a Y) and will need a front mount. I have plenty of front mounts and bells. The only other issue is exhaust, you could go with the rams horns from Mummert for duals or if you want to go single I have plenty of those setups as well. But as others said, a truck of that originality those sixes are great motors, is it worth it??? I only did it in my 58 because the motor had a tick that was more than likely a wrist pin that I thought was detering buyers and since I put the 272 I still haven't found a buyer.

Wow .. Thanks for all the replies, I expected to find people in favor and others not .... I myself am undecided !! This vehicle is original with only 5,800 miles on the odometer, the engine works great and hydraulic transmission also ..... the only HIC !! is the sound and performance, I have a 65 mustang convertible original and it is amazing, the look, performance, handling etc ... but with this truck I wanted a little more. I find myself a Yblock account, where 292 272 ECG C2AE take time to restore it and when it comes time to install it ....... I have gained experience and possibly my idea will change . A very Big thank you to experience your comments is appreciated inputs !!

If your truck is an unmolested survivor with only 5800 miles on it, I would leave it just like it is. That sounds completely fantastic.
