Our racing weekend was not the best possible again as in the first run one titanium valve stuck to bronze guide and Jyrki lifted after 6.8 seconds in the run. Still 9.1 sec with only 211 km/h. Good 1.27 60 ft. with about 1.9 bar of boost though... So, we took the head of and got the valve moving with little tinkering. Head back on and to next burn out where waters came out from another head gasket. Marchalls pointed us back to pits and then we took both head off and put new Fel Pros on. Time run short and we could not make another pass or even warm up the engine. So, our sunday started from last place qualifier and we had no glue how fast it would jump now. I put 8.50 dial on our body and Jyrki drove 9.4 with 227 km/h and poor 1.37 60 ft. and lousy 0.3 reaction time. So, we lost that run and day was over for us.... After that run we discovered that one pressure hose clamp was broken and that explained loss in boost pressure at that run. we had only 1.1 bar and that's one reason the car didn't jump from the line. Good things? Engine is still in one piece and it revved up to 7200 rpm, no issues with spark and we can change head gaskets quite quickly if needed . Next race will be 28.-29th of June, so there is lots of time to do things better. Here is a video about our journey... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72hlcTZgTm0&list=UUxZ94DRcBfpz0DstGIV1_QAAnd some slow motions... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8h1UGvYnvI&list=UUxZ94DRcBfpz0DstGIV1_QAhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMfYaB-NB0A&list=UUxZ94DRcBfpz0DstGIV1_QAAnd under the car video from that lost elimination round... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYSGVPn97i4&list=UUxZ94DRcBfpz0DstGIV1_QASo. looking forward to next race! We have the power...

Last weekend was just another disaster . Two runs and on the third we toasted the Powerglide! At burn out slot, when Jyrki hit the transbrake button, car jumped backwards. Front band was worn out, all friction plates were goodbye and also couple of small parts had to be changed. We opened up the tranny and put it back together at the pits with a help of a professional transmission guy. He added one friction plate and took couple of parts off from the tranny (speed secrets!) and now it should be better than ever! Sadly we could not test it as Sunday was full of rain. But, next thursday to sunday is next round of Finnish Drag Race series and then we go....FAST!!! The times? 9.2 and 9.3 with slipping tranny was all we could do... Videos here...

Did the trans guy have the parts, or do you carry around a rebuild kit? Now winter mantinance should include the trans, right? Still a good start on the engine combo.

He had the parts cause he knows that the racers are good customers during the race weekend. Kivinummi is one of the most respected automatic transmission guy in Finland so the tranny is fine now...although he's son is our opponent in the same class.
Good start because everything else is in one piece and working but the transmission. Bad because times dont start with 8.
I ts too much time since the last record. Always something...trigger, tranny, boost pipe, valves, holes in the block, the team, the driver, position of the moon...duh.

...and the exhaust valve is stuck again after first pull of the weekend.
8.8 sec and something. 8.7 is haunting us.

5 runs in three days, couple of stuck exhaust valves on Thursday / right head off & on again and pair of good ETs and a new top speed record 243 km/h for the team this weekend. Lost in first elimination round to overall winner of our class. Dial in 8.80 and Jyrki run 8.844 but took .448 R/T against .068 on the other line. Best ETthis weekend 8.755 is far from our best (8.723) but good thing is that the engine is still running strong. Two weeks to 1/8 mile race at Kalajoki. Plan is to finally add ALS to our engine management to raise boost easier at the line. Little wheel spin and front end bouncing still with car. 6 psi in rear tyres seems to be good, but maybe need to try 5 psi at Kalajoki... Here is a video about this weekend. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COm5yyGC03E&list=UUxZ94DRcBfpz0DstGIV1_QA

Slow Motion rubber burnin' and launches. Tomorrow heading to Kalajoki 1/8 race with anti lag system operating. Two seconds with trans brake and throttle full open and boost raises to 1 bar. Should be fun on Saturday and Sunday . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOhPedg8Fks&list=UUxZ94DRcBfpz0DstGIV1_QA

Videos from Kalajoki airfield track. Qualification position 6 out of 14 cars. Jyrki broke with 0.007 seconds in a second round ( Dial 5.71 and Jyrki drove 5.703!) and that was it this time. First round was a solo as competitor broke his Firebird. 60 ft's again 1.26 s as best and 198,9 km/h (fastest car in our class this time) at the finish line. Two weeks to Final round of the season . Car is ok after four races. No stuck valves anymore. We checked the main and rod bearings today and only normal wear visible. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEPPa-JnrXY&list=UUxZ94DRcBfpz0DstGIV1_QAhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bacHmiKN0qo&list=UUxZ94DRcBfpz0DstGIV1_QA&index=2

Good to hear the engine is preforming without problems. I was watching the video and noticed the launch has point where the chassis unloads and slips the tires There could be some lower 60ft times if you can find a way to correct that issue. Maybe Ted could help with some sugestions. Does anyone ask why your team runs a 50 year old engine, or how you make it so fast?. Great Job.
