I have to agree with you, a tranny will make all the difference in the world. When I pulled my "slush-o-matic" out and installed the FMX as per the Hoosier's instructions, it was like I put a new motor in my 56! If you still have the Ford-O that's great for now, but I will strongly recomend in the future if you want more performance, go to a C-4 or better yet an A.O.D. That way you can run some gears and still get some decent highway mileage. The FMX route is a little cheaper way to go, and that tranny is almost bullet proof, but the C-4 and A.O.D. have more parts readily available and are a lighter tranny. Converting to an FMX shaved a full second off my car in the quarter mile!
