All of us go to car shows during the Spring, Summer, and Fall months of the year. I have been considering taking along a Y block on a trailer to do an "up close and personal" education for everyone who does not know about our engine, or for those who have forgotten. The parts alone I swap make for good conversation pieces, but I have been thinking about going to the next step - putting a Y on an engine test stand, with all of the gauges, etc. And trailering this thing to car shows (different intakes, carbs, etc, just for fun) behind my Expedition.

Anybody else out there done this before? We have all modeled the Y in our vehicles, and I would love to have one on a trailer/stand that had accessiblity on all sides, you could more easily play with combinations, looks, etc. What would be really good is to get one worked up with the VS57 or VR57 on it.

I preach and teach - that is my life, and I am thinking that it would be a good opportunity to bring the Y out to the shows like that - showing off all the detail, etc....

I have seen some stands on Ebay, but you know what that is like -- just exactly what kind of quality are you getting...and can it handle about 650 lbs of Y? It sure would be fun to tinker with, throw different combinations at it, etc. I would get more education out of it than anyone else. Cool

Hollow Heads did that at FHRA American Car Show 2006 in Finland with mock up 292 with Blue Thunder intake, MSD distributor, alloy water pump, home made headers and a C4 as a tranny. And ofcourse there was an experimental alloy intake beside it to show some attitude BigGrinBigGrinw00t. Well, only few understood anything about that, but we were there to show some Y-spirit!

Guys, thanks for the photos and the encouragement - I have decided this is the route I am going to go. I have seen some engine stands (with only steel wheels for concrete) for sale that will give me what I need, but looking at it more, the trailer version (to tow behind my Expedition) is really what I am after. Having a Y to crank up at a car show (at my swap space, or whatever) is where it's at. Of course, I still have my 55 Club Sedan driver, but I am never really into "showing" the car, etc.

It will take some further study on my part, further acquisition of parts, etc. But I would like to showcase the Y block in such a manner. The local swaps and shows in our area would really benefit...who knows, one of my kids could use it an upcoming science project...Cool

Sounds like a Great Idea Daniel. A little education about about the little Ford yblock that took the small block chev out in the 50s and early 60s has a Great ring too it! Also on the very back page of yblock magazine is the box score of the different types of races in 1956 showing how the little yblock kicked ??????????? Wink

Anybody got a lead on one of the cut away dealer engines? That would be a great addition to a rolling display along with a sign listing the advances that Jerry so skillfully pointed out on the Y-Block T-Shirts. Chuck in NH

Looking for McCullouch VS57 brackets and parts. Also looking for 28 Chrysler series 72 parts. And early Hemi parts.
