I'm interested in hearing opinions on which tires to buy for my 56 Customline. Since they all seem to be quite pricey, I'd like to make the right choice the first time. Thanks in advance for your input.

Getting along in age in this hobby and I've owned lots of bias plies and now several sets of wide white radials. Radials have it all over bias so long as you buy the same tire DIAMETER as was original to the car and inflate them to modern figures like 32-35 pounds instead of your 1950s owner's manual 24 pounds. I'm personally a big fan of Diamond Back wide white radials. Its not just the quality of their tires; it is also the customer service over the phone.

I just got some Cokers. Kind of high priced and I read some less than stellar reviews on here AFTER I made the purchase. I can't remember who I got them from (Coker was out of the size I wanted) but they also were much cheaper for shipping. So far (just a couple months) I've been happy with them. The difference between radials and the old bias plies was incredible!

I agree with SOT. While I had years of good service out of a set of Coker WWW on my bird, they did not have the traction or handling of the Diamond Backs on more modern carcasses. They're pricey in the more high performance tires, though. I drive a lot in heavy traffic, and when some idiot in front of me or along side me does something stupid, its worth every penny. Especially on the always wet pavement in Seattle.

Glad to hear good things about Diamondback's. Did some research awhile back on them and they seem to be the best option. You can get speed rated tires. Plan on getting them when I get my T-Bird back on the road.
