So currently my 57 fairlane 500 292 is running dual glass packs and there to me to quiet so when my engine gets rebuilt I was thinking of using some magnaflows I would use flow masters but I don't really want that resonance noise in my car because I really like my music and it being crisp with out interference but I still love that rumbling sound. So I’m trying to see if anyone is running maganflows and if you are do like them or is there any other set up that you guys like better.

Which glass packs are currently installed? I was using Flowtech Purple Hornies for a while. Those were loud. Maybe you just need the right glass packs. I'm presently using Hooker Aerochamber mufflers. They have about the same noise level as the glass packs at idle but they are quieter everywhere else and sound pretty good, in my opinion. They are still noisy but quiet enough that I will not get any unwanted attention. At first, I noticed resonance at idle. It either isn't doing it anymore or I got used to it.

I've only heard good things about Magnaflow but I've no personal experience with them.

Y-Guy  I've got the magnaflow's on my '60 F100/292/Reds headers.

They are not loud until you twist-it over 3500rpm. (Still

not anywhere near as loud as a glasspack) Mine are both out

the right side ,so out the back could make a diference...

Thanks for all the responses I don't know what glass packs I have there all rusty, but defiantly not loud at all I’ve tried driving the car to heat up the glass pack and throwing in cold water to try to break up the glass webbing and that didn’t do anything besides clean all the black carbon deposit so will see what I go with, but I’ll keep you all posted when I change it all out.

I used turbo tubes, & lopped off the offset inlet & outlets.  I then found a pipe that would fit perfectly w/it's od inside the tubes.  I then slid it up, past the 1st noise chambers. I flared it out to accept the 2 1/2 I used.  Idle is a bit more melow than a glass pack.  Off idle is in line w/ a typical cherry bomb.  From about 2300 up, it cakels like a cross between a worn glasspack & a straight pipe.  I think they started out as about 18" long, effectively they have about 13" of area for noise reduction.  What I like most is they do not have the back rap sound that most glasspack systems have.  I don't even have a crossover, still no back rap.

Moz,

Depends on what's on the radio. I do best with some good mellow Jazz. Basie, Brubeck, Paul Desmond, Feistritzer makes me turn it off in the tow truck.
