I decided to remove the cartridge oil filter and putting on a spin on oil filter adapter and I know it is a messy job. AAfter I glue the gasket to the filter adapter how tight should I put the nut that goes in to the block that holds the adapter on thanks

I would think you'd torque to factory specs, which is pretty high (I'm wanting to say north of 40 lbs). If you have shop manual it will be at the end of the book. If not I'll look it up when I get home. I don't know if the adaptor uses the same, or a similar, bolt as the stock filter plate does. If so it's pretty shallow and tough to get hold of. I had to grind a six-point socket down flat to get rid of the bevel, otherwise it wouldn't grab the bolt head. You're probably going to need to do it this way to get the factory bold out. I used a cheater bar as well after I struggle with it for 20 minutes.

What type of gasket are you using? The original was a paper product and required a thin coat of oil upon installaton where the replacement is not a paper product and should be put in dry! Glue?????? Looking for a leak thet can be later blamed on the rear main??

If you can get a hold of a 3/4" set of sockets the correct sizt socket will work without grinding down one from a 1/2" set.

I changed the gasket on the stock filter plate last year. Pain in the butt. The gasket that came with the canister filter is now rubber. I'm going to swap my set up as well as soon as I get through the two other filters I bought. It took a while to find them and to get them in, so I bought ahead. Last time I do that. I only put 500 miles on that car a year probably!

I took the cartridge filter off and where the housing mated to the block there is a plate with a nut holding it on. Does that have to come off then put the oil filter adapter where the plate is thanks

I sprayed the gasket with copper coat one side. I did not buy a replacement kit I heard the leaked so I found an original. Never has leaked.
