I think there is enough Ford in Ford '56 effies out there for you to find the right one if you keep looking. Of course you would be doing a great service to restore a 350/350 powered one to a proper drive train. Would be one less POS on the road.

If it is turnkey you want, plan on spending money, no matter what engine it has. If you can handle small repairs, I see no reason you can not find a '56 with the correct drivetrain at an affordable price. Buy it with whichever engine you desire already installed. There is no point in buying a finished "turn key" vehicle only to swap the drivetrain.

IMHO you should get a discounted price for taking the 350/350 GM junk off of their hands and disposing of it properly...Sick

I guess I should have been clearer ....I wouldn't be keeping the Chevy motor/trans combo , I'd be trying to pull it , sell it , and have the appropriate Ford installed .

IMO if you keep looking you'll find one with a yblock or the "right" ford engine combo. Yes there are a lot with scrubs in them. But I don't think you have to support that movement.
You said it yourself…"if I have to settle…" Well, don't.

If all goes according to plan , in the new year , I'll be getting a Ford F 100, ' 56 or earlier . In a perfect world , the truck will have a Y-block but I would settle for an FE , or a sbf , even a stock 6 ........or a flattie in an earlier truck .

Now , IF , I have to settle for a Chevy powered truck due to $$$ , condition , location etc , will the typical 350 / 350 automatic be worth anything ? There are so many Chevy powered Fords out there , it may be may only choice so I'm trying to plan ahead ? I'll be looking for a turnkey truck , not a project .

Thanks , T
