Appears to be two trains of thought here.  One where the head is cast similar to the originals with casting lines and roughness.  The other where the heads are actually smooth on the exterior finish and potentially can be emblazoned with the manufacturers logo on the ends.  Smooth works okay for myself.  What’s the general concensus here?

I'm a sleeper kind of guy. I'd go for the ones that appear stock over smooth ones.

I'm ok with the stock looking casting, I'm for the sleeper look as well BUT will take whatever I can get as long as it works.If it's slick I guess a little bead blasting can rough it up a bit.

Smooth for me. I would leave it unpainted. But I can see the case for a rough casting.

You know, I didn't think about that but yeah. I guess I'd have to.

That way I can tell people I beat them with a stock-headed Y. Hehe. I don't think I could ever fall to that level.

I don't like shiny stuff. Most of those aluminum heads with the smooth ends are shiny.
