Doug: re the milling. I was just trying to have someone avoid a potential problem. Ted E. has mentioned the 0.025" max mill on early "G" heads at least 2 times on this site. And apparently Ford issued a bulletin at not more than 0.010".. I picked up on it, because I have a set of non posted heads on hand.. (oops, edited as I forgot a 0 in the measurements)

Hi Glen & Paul

Going to go street so it will have a M II front end, this will get rid of the spring towers to make room for a

Y BLOCK

what else with decent headers etc. I want a closed car with A/C and other creature comforts. Paul I put the ad on the Falcon site and had a response within 2 hours so it looks like the pieces will go to another hobbyist at least if not under a car.

BTW Paul I have not spoken with Ted on the subject of milling G heads. But I milled the heads on a 312 by .060" back in the day. With stock pistons and not too much induction (3/2's on Edelbrock in my case) there were no problems. I might not do it today but it seemed to work. But when I bored it an 1/8 and put in Jahns 1/4" popups it was another story. There is a limit to what can be done but one has to consider the whole package and with flat tops in a 292 the compression is not likely to be so high that it causes problems.

Doug: I can't use the parts.. but it's nice to see a vendor using common sense with some vintage parts. So often we see usuable parts being selfishly scrapped by someone who would call themselves an enthusiast. Might be an idea to also advertise them on a Mustang site or another Ford site, say with a broader scope.

Complete front suspension for a '63 1/2 Falcon Sprint V8. Includes 5 bolt hubs, spindles, springs, upper arms, lower arms with good struts, Steering linkage, and misc hardware. These pieces were removed by hand and not cut with a saw or torch. Drums & shoes are included but are not good enough to use. These parts will enable the conversion of a 6 cyl Falcon, Comet, Mustang etc to 5 bolt wheels for a V8. I realize that these pieces may be pretty common but I don't want to sell this stuff for scrap if someone else can use them. I want to get rid of all of it so I prefer not to sell pieces. located in Louisville KY. Shipping possible by US postal service at cost, please make offer.

Site admin. please feel free to remove this ad if deemed not Y-block enough Doug Thttp://forums.y-blocksforever.com/Uploads/Images/6e205b2e-b0ad-4ee3-9401-9369.JPG
