Just got back from a 6300 mile trip in my 56 312 powered TBird. Only problem was a regulator that went sour and a rear main seal that started to leak. Car is basically stock (but with a C4 Trans). Averaged 14 MPG (ran around 70 mph on the highways. Very happy with the car. Been gone 39 days. Car climbed the Sierra-Nevada's and Rockies with no problems. All with an engine mileage unknown. And this was the second coast to coast trip with the car.
Went from NJ to Oregon, down the coast to San Jose (55/57 TBird show) and then to Reno for Hot August Nights (great scene). On way back stopped at Des Moines for another 55/57 TBird show and then home. Stopped at Mt Rushmore, Yellowstone, Crazy Horse, Mt Hood (Oregon) and other tourist spots. Also went go-carting at Miller Motorsports in Utah.
