Hi,

I am installing windlace on my '56 Parklane and it isn't apparent to me how it goes in. I have an interior trim manual but instructions are very brief and not very helpful.

There are some tabs around the perimeter of the door that I think pinches the windlace. Does the windlace get pinched between the tab and the body? There isn't a great deal of material on the windlace to work with. Here are a few pictures of the tabs -- on one type it is quite apparent how it works:

Above the door, I assume the windlace gets held in place by the strip that is used for the headliner. I assume the sharp prongs are only for the headliner, though, and not the windlace -- correct?

factory way is to pinch it in the tabs. I think most upholstery guys use hot glue to hold in additional places. Problem with just the tabs (if you use the car a lot) is that it can pull out of position pretty easily if you regularly brush against it getting in and out, etc.

I wasn't happy with the results I was getting, so I installed some strips to screw the windlace to. I had some poly or plastic strips that were the correct thickness, so I cut and fastened strips to the areas. Some guys have used wood strips. Then I screwed the material down onto the strips. It.s all hidden by the panels.

thanks, Mark
