Ron,
It was Bill Warner who set the motorcycle record up there at 311mph a couple years ago, I was there. he has gone over 300 several times there. you cant go that fast on a motorcycle on beach sand and salt like bonneville, you are all wishy washy. Loring is the best place to do that in the world, he was worried about keeping the front tire down at those speeds and something went drastically wrong. the first report I heard he was going 297 and then instantaneously shot 40ft in the air. the second report I heard he was doing in excess of 280mph. they said he was talking untill he arrived at the hospital and then he was pronounced dead.
Unfortunately I didnt make it this weekend due to a family event, plan to go to the fall event.
Sad situation, I met him and looked over his bike the last couple years.
