Royce. Congrats on making it several rounds at that race. Heads up racing is definitely a whole different scenario and typically puts everyone but the fastest car at a disadvantage. Congrats to Vic also.

.

I did one of those heads up racing venues a little over a year ago at the local track and by luck of the draw, many of the quicker cars went out before I lined up with them. Once the field narrowed down to about nine cars, I realized I was the quickest one left standing and simply took care not to red light as that was going to be the quickest way to lose. Here’s the YouTube link to the final round of that race that someone had posted.

Vic Correnti and myself attended this event on Sat at the historic Great Lakes Dragaway in Union Grove Wi. The event is limited to cars 65 and older and trys to reproduce drag racing flavor of the 60s. Lots of gasser style cars and even some refugee original cars from back in the day. I took the Warbird. Vic had his 55 T-Bird. I was running a little slower than usual high 10s low 11s, when I can usually run 10.60s. Vic on the other hand was posting personal bests with his new engine combo..

No bracket racing, it was all exhibition and heads up runs, They had eliminations Sat afternoon. We lined up by ET and I was in the fastest class 11.99 and faster. I think Vic went up one class to 12.00 to 13.99.

They started us with a flag drop and I am sure I jumped the start on my first race but got by with it.. I went 3 rounds and lost in a very close contest, his 10.95 to my 11.0. He just nipped me at the strip.

I know Vic went at least 2 rounds as well.

All in all a well attended, well run event. Weather was perfect and I think I will put it on the calender for next year
