Brings back memories ...first late model race I ever went to was in Toronto , 1956 , at the CNE track . Late model ( mostly ) convertibles , Ford , Chevy , but a couple of Buick hardtops and ( for fun I guess ) a Cadillac and a Volkswagon included . I was 11 years old , so can't recall the significance of this odd ball lineup . I do recall the VW beating the Caddy although both were many laps down . It was fun watching the drivers work the wheel with the convert tops down , giving a good view .

That might be tough Danny. All they had was 35 mm film then. The quality of the film deteriorates over the years.

I have noticed a few sites that have DVD's for sale, but I wonder if their material is copyrighted. It would be best if what I got I could use with no copyright... Trying to do some intro work to a video series I am putting together. Tim McMaster has already been good enough to send me some great footage.

I am using Sony Movie Studio 12 and plan to use Adobe After Effects to make the intro... maybe I could just use the old NASCAR photos and then bring out some 2 dimensional stuff. Anyone have good links to royalty free photos of the 56/57 season?

hi Dan, check with rick martin, he sent me some footage from the late 50's and early 60's. he might be able to steer you in the right direction. also try typing in a certain track to see if they have coverage of early races in there archives.
