I tried to take a shortcut and just cut and paste the picture. I had to copy it to my pictures file and then post it. Chuck

Drivers likely in the picture would be in #22, Curtis Turner; in #98 & #99 Joe Weatherly or Fireball Roberts & in the # 87 Ch--y Buck Baker. Baker started the 57 season (which started in late 56) driving a Ford & was expected to have a factory backed ride with Ford. However, he was the 1956 driver's champ with the Kiekhaufer Chrysler Dodge team, & apparently got a better offer from Ch--ro-et. So, he switched. Another Ford company mistake! While Fords won the manufacturers championship, Baker repeated as drivers champ.. A side note on him was that other drivers learned to give him a wide berth, if they screwed up & took him out of a race..they better have their boxing gloves on when they got back to the pits. In a later interview, his son Buddy Baker said that his dad won & lost races.. but never lost a fist fight!.

chuck count again, 22 car is fireball, and baker drove for chryler, chevy, and ford all in one year. The A.M.A. ban messed up the whole 57 NASCAR season. Also the great Smokey Yuinck of scrub fame was under contract to Ford at the start of 57, which would have been a great loss to G.M. if Ford would not have pulled out of racing.
