itsa292,

I get updates from Y block when new replies and post come in.

With this said;

Leaf Springs, gage set , 4 sets of wheel covers , convertible top frame , engine parts (intake carbs water pump? ), fender skirts , brake drums and other brake parts .

The gauge set cluster is worth around 100.>> the used 4 sets of wheel covers from the bird, are the same as 55-56 ford, they sell at 25. each if they are decent, the bird conv soft top frame is worth 2000. minimum, intakes and carb sets are usually 50- 150 depending on what year, fender skirts for a bird sell for 250-400>especially if they have the chrome trim on them, some brake drums on birds and pass ford cars are no longer available>>soooo.

I understand your frustration, but do not throw away the parts>>> in the least, go to your local Craigs List and list it all>>> gaurantee you that a ford guy will come by with cash in hand>>and buy it all.

If you were not so far away I would make an attempt to buy all, shipping is a deal killer for me though!!!

Warm regards,

John

When I think of the free parts and assistance I've received from people in the old car community, this thread makes me sick. itsa292 could care less about honoring his father's passion for the hobby and instead just wants to profit from it, or he'll toss the parts just to spite those who many not need the parts but want to save them for someone who might. He just doesn't get it.

I'm glad he has no interest in the cars or the parts because frankly he'd give the hobby a bad name. It does make me wonder why he'd trade his parts for T-Bird valve covers if he "could care less" about this stuff. All this guy cares about is correcting grammar so he can feel smug and superior.

Time for me to go down to the garage to cool off and listen to my Y-block. Sorry for the rant.

I sell my extra stuff on ebay, no reserve, starting bid is the cost of the ebay advertisement fees, the stuff sells and you just never know cause the market decides. In the end it's gone and somebody who wanted it got it. I don't do it for a living, I just think that the stuff I keep is good stuff that somebody wants.

Anyway itsa292 your attitude has been terrible here from the onset, ie. the reactionary comments and the insincere I'm an English teacher answer, therefore please consider my offer for the clock withdrawn, put it in the dumpster.

I like the way this guy corrects other people's English and grammar and then commits about a half-dozen grammar, structural and punctuation errors himself. I caught all these and I'm not any kind of teacher. Just an old truck driver that had good teachers many years ago.

I noticed this, too. I don't know what it is, but the second someone corrects grammar or something similar on a site completely unrelated to that, I notice every single error they commit.

That tells me you all know its worth and are trying to get something for nothing.

You should get to know people better before you judge them. I have no clue of it's worth. I know that you threaten to scrap them which means that a price you are willing to accept is $0. I don't need them. You effectively want nothing. So I made an offer based on that. I merely want to save them from scrap. I really don't want them because all they will do for me is take up space and gather dust, but that's a price I'm willing to pay to save them for someone who may need them. I won't lie. I may sell them if I find someone who needs them. Then again, maybe I won't. If I'm in the situation you're in now, I'd give them away to someone who can use them or hold onto them. It wouldn't be the first time that's happened in the car community and it wouldn't be the first time it's happened on this site.
You had an offer for $25 plus shipping, which is more than you will get to scrap it, so what is the problem? If $25 is the highest offer you get, maybe that's what they're worth. If you think they're worth more, name your price and stop playing this game. Maybe someone else will agree that your asking price is fair.

itsa 292: I don't want to get further into a discussion of who is right or wrong re your post.. however, may I suggest that you might want to advertize on another car site or Craigslist etc. Other sites may have much broader coverage & more likelyhood of interest. The vintage parts you have are almost 60 years old, it would be a shame to have them destroyed. I'm sure someone will be interested in them..

I didn't sell them to a salvage dealer. I had no idea what these things were worth. So, I asked for offers. I then found out what some may be worth. But still I don't give away anything to anybody. The valve covers were for a friend that mentioned them. I don't know what they even look like . I have a hobby that I enjoy and make money at when I have a part someone wants. I am a pilot . I have 3 planes and I rebuild them for customers. Parts are a part of my hobby too. But we sell ours because unlike the 50s Fords you guys have being so cheap giving parts away is common. My hobby is totally different. Pay $15000 for an engine, 20 grand for electronics and maybe you'll see why we sell parts. Those Fords aren't worth keeping at their cost. Maybe if you all had an education and some real money you would understand. But I am sure that wont happen. Cause yall rednecks aint smart enough to make a big lots of money. Live in your trailers and rot!

The parts I had are in the garbage dump. Not sold for scrap.
