How can I tell if a fender skirt is an original skirt? I have a set that I got with my 55 Bird but I dont know for sure if they are real or after market. No identifying marks or serial numbers on them so I just dont know. So I thought I would ask you guys. I got the car aout 20 years ago. The car and the skirts were blue at that time. But they could have been aftermarket then ? No idea . Thanks in advance.

I don't think they made after market skirts for T-birds. There are reproduction skirts made, but they were copies of the original T-bird factory skirts.

Best contact a major T.Bird club for that kind of info. It likely doesn't matter unless you enter concours shows..even then are they going to remove your skirts & look inside of them?

You can not tell,if it is a reproduction or not! It Doesn't matter, a lot of the T-bird was reproduced at a later date . Some of the parts were made in the original tooling. Does that make them a reproduction or just a latter run of original parts? The reason I say it does't matter, is that you can't tell the difference by looking at it. And neither could a show judge.
