I am relatively new to this site. My son and I have joined the y-block club with a '56 Parklane and we have already gotten help from all of you by paging through the prior posts.



We are working on the interior of the car and the interior paint is clearly different than that on the exterior. We have the two tone green (pine ridge and meadow mist); it is pretty easy to find codes for these colors. A portion of the interior is painted a different green and we have only found references to a "medium metallic green" color on the Internet. Anyone have any idea on how to track a color code down?

It's very likely that the Crown Victoria Assoc. has that info. They run ads in Y-Block magazine & in Hemmings Motor News..

An update on my search.  I did find an original paint code from Norbert Doll -- it's M-2J-538 "medium green metallic".  With the code, I found a couple of links online, one to a Dupont historical color library that appears quite helpful as it included some interior paint information.  They listed a "DUCO formula file number" for this paint code of 59596.  I've called around to some paint shops, and nobody seems to be able to do anything with the information.  I'm not sure how I can translate this data into a quart of paint.  Does anyone have any ideas?

To be truthful even though you have the numbers they dont keep paint code formulas for too long. What they do nowadays is come shoot a piece with a scope and it can translate the color to a new formula. sometimes you have to bring a piece to them< i have removed glovebox doors etc and brought them down for them to shoot. This still isnt a perfect match sometimes, they can mix up some test samples with slight deviations till they get it right< I have had to have them mix me 3 different formulas a lot of times before they get it right.

I think most larger body shops mix their own paints today, you might have some luck just giving them that code.
