Read this thread off the NMRA site concerning the 2013 schedule...apparently, Columbus will be converted to a nostalgia and bracket event....be sure to read it all, there is a good bit of discussion on the Y block group. Expo Thread

Nostalgia sounds cool. Hopefully there will be enough interested racers to support the event. I wonder just what they mean by nostalgia. No info on the NMRA website yet.

As I related to other Y blockers the last couple of years, I was concerned at the declining car count in the numerous Mustang classes. It looks like NMRA is planning to scale back on the number of points events. Making the Columbus meet a Nostalgia meet does not really fit with NMRA, since they are primarily a Fox Mustang group. I hope they can continue at Columbus in some fashioon.

I hope its a pre 80's gasser competition like Byron. Does this mean tht the Y-Block shootout has taken over Columbus? We had to have had some influence in the decision. Chuck

Well, according to the thread above, a number of Mustang racers whine about the time the Y-block event takes up. They don't realize that everyone that is there spectating are not there for the Mustangs, most are there for the vintage stuff. In the past, the Expo was all Ford, not just Mustang. I was supremely disappointed when Charlie sold to the NMRA, but I understood it, with his business, age, health etc. Still, I knew this would be the end result. How long can someone stay interested in watching one model of car go down the track together? It's like what happened to Super Comp in the 80's:everybody had an identical dragster, with a throttle stop...WHo cares? I just hope that someone, a real Ford person, picks up the Expo and carries it on. It is still my favorite event to go to, but it is a shell of what it used to be. Remember the swap meet, how it used to completely fill up the paved area, and spill over into the grass, and still, every racer's trailer would have something for sale in it? The amount of stuff there this year wouldn't have filled my 30X40 garage. They were able to easily fit both days racing into Saturday due to the weather. If the Expo is converted into a Nostalgia event, who will run it? NMRA? NMCA? Goodguys? Other?I can't see NMRA continuing on with it, if there is no points at the race, and if it is a Nostalgia or bracket racing event...

ChuckChuck, actually Norwalk would be a little closer to you than Columbus and it's a very decent track. I don't personally care, the two places are about the same distance for me.
