I suspect that lot of the "replica" and kit cars use Chevy motors ....crate motors are dirt cheap . When I worked at the Ford dealer , a guy pulled in with an Excaliber which was a Deusenberg replica ( I think ) but it was small block Ford powered much to my surprise . Here in Canada , I'm going to say 1963-4-5 , Pontiac buyers would find a Chevy engine under the hood in most cases .....I believe the Bonneville had the Poncho . Anyhow you could get a 283-327-409 in your Pontiac full size ......my step dad brought home a '64 Parisienne with a 327 automatic in it ( back when they would loan you the car for the day ) ....he didn't know much about cars , took it back , and settled for a 64 Impala 283 which was gutless. I watched the British guy's tv show last night who buys and sells cars in England. He bought a Cobra replica with a 350 Chevy in it. That car was just so wrong. Makes a much sense as building a '57 Chevy convertable with ond of the new bodies that are available and puting a 312 in it. Now that is sometning I would love to see someone do!!

Thats the plan. I would have liked a early Hemi but couldn't find one I can afford. Plus its an all new set of parts to learn (and store). I'm covered in Y parts so it seems to make sense. Anyway a blown Y has got to "show" better than a junkyard scrub 350. Chuck
Y's guys rule! Looking for McCullouch VS57 brackets and parts. Also looking for 28 Chrysler series 72 parts. And early Hemi parts.

The new motor was built from a collection of parts I sent to Ted Eaton a few years ago. Yep I said years, but thats another story. I had a 292 block that ran in a drag boat with a 6-71 blower. It was bored beyond an 80 over 312. It also came with steel main caps. He used a 312 crank to provide a little stroke and custom pistons and reworked 471 heads. Blower cam and springs and Isky lifters. Ted has been working his magic on it when time (and budget) allowed. It has run on the dyno at over 400HP with tremondous tourque. That run was with a B&M 144 blower. I have a complete McCullouch setup. There is also a 4-71 blower waiting for a manifold. There aren't any real secrets in it. Just a well built motor with the right parts by our own engine guru. Chuck

Chuck, Haul that scrub out and I am sure you have blocks to mock it up and get it Y ready for when you do get that motor from Ted, or bring it up here here and I will have it Y ready in a day, I owe you and have your videos of the dyno runs!

I've made more than one offer for rods and cars seen online. If they remove the scrub drivetrain. It's hard to believe but they don't get it! I'm serious, I want it with NO driveline I'll provide my own. No takers yet. And yes I still have the mystery motor in my Chrysler. Mostly because I can't afford a vintage Hemi and I havn't got my new Y from Ted yet. Chuck

Well for me , as I look for my next fun ride , the Chevy motor in a Ford would be a deal killer most of the time . Yes I could hog out the Chevy drivetrain but it probably wouldn't bring much in a resale ....certainly nowhere near the cost of offsetting the Ford drivetrain . I guess the only good news with a lot of Chevy powered Fords is they often go with a Ford 9" rear . I like the story of the guy putting the Ford in the Chevy just to piss 'em off ..too funny

I've found most of the small-block scrub motored street rods built in the '80s, '90s and into 2000 were nothing more than wrecker supplied engines. Most boasted a balanced & blueprinted 350 four-bolt main, but when really pressed, half turned out to be a stock boneyard 350 or 305 engine with nothing more than a rattle can orange paint job and $60.00 chrome dress-up kit. I always like to leave guys with scrub motored Fords with this question. You have a Chevy engine, why didn't you put it in a Chevy street rod???? They're dog ass ugly, that's why!
