Any information on the Dennis Carpenter Reproduction 55 grille.  Sounds great if it's not a cheap knock-off from overseas.

Mike

I have it installed on the car already....but since I've never seen a perfect stock grille before, it's hard for me to make a comparison. Every stock grille I've seen in person has needed restoration.

But that being said....I haven't recognized any problems with it yet. But I'm keeping a close eye on it for any problems that may or may not try to creep up.

Got over to look at the grill today. Car is in a buddy's 50x30 building with the front end up against the wall and a lot of "stuff" around it. From what I could tell there does not appear to be any pitting although there is small amounts of surface rust. Lens in the parking lights are not broken or cracked but there is some "crazing" on the plastic lens.

I wouldnt be able to get any photos until I get the car out, but I'll see about doing that if you are still interested after what I told you. I know I'd want to see pictures if I were you.

If I find there are additional issues I'll let you know ASAP and should we do some sort of deal and you are not satisfied you can call it off or return it .

I would say it's not show quality but since it doesn't appear to be pitted with only limited surface rust it would be a goodprospect to be rechromed or used on a daily driver.

Thanks

Mike

Mike, give me a couple days....a friend of mine that's a Dennis Carpenter dealer is doing some checking with him about his " new" repro 55 grille. I'll let you know something as soon as I hear from him.

I have a complete unmolested '55 grill still in my '55 Customline. Car has been in my family since 56 and is very low mileage. The car has been stored inside but let me double check to see if it might need rechroming.

What condition is your tube grill? That's sort of what I had in mind for my 55.

Won't be able to check Sunday but I'll try to do it Monday if you think you might be interested.

Missouri Mike

I initially thought it was perfect but looking at it, the very top tube in the middle has about a half inch chip out of the chrome.
