Hey John, I was talking to Glen Henderson the other day about a set of Y block fenderwell headers from Speedway..He says he thinks you run a set on the Hurricane. Is that true? Did any tubes need to be moved? If those headers fit, I will be buying a set from Speedway this weekend, as they have the ceramic coated headers for $279 plus shipping. Let me know your thoughts on these headers, if they work, fit ok, etc. Thanks my friend, hopefully, I'll be at Columbus this year, without my car again, as my glass wont be here until October.

James:

My fenderwells came from JC Whitney, but they don't have them any more.  I believe they are Sandersons, like the junior stockers used to run.  I haven't seen anyone else's fenderwells on a '57.  The ones I have fit with no modifications however.  Sorry I didn't answer sooner, I haven't been able to get on the site all day.

They are for 53-56 f100, but Glen said he had mocked a pair up on aa 57 car before and they fit ok. If I could verify that they fit well enough, I would get the coated headers, but if I would need to modify them I would just get the standard painted ones and modify them. They look like they will, and Glen believes the ones he used were either Speedways or Patriot, which are actually both built by Patriot I think. Anybody else try this?

Just curious? Are all the above mentioned headers 1-1/2" diameter? According to J. Mummert, his testing indicates that the Y-Block does not respond well to under 1-5/8"...

Paul:

My Sandersons on the race car are 1 5/8 OD primaries and 3" collectors with no mufflers or tail pipes.  I regularly blow header gaskets.  If headers are supposed to be exhaust extractors, why do I have enough pressure in my headers to blow out the gaskets?  My next set will be 1 3/4 primaries with maybe 3 1/2 collectors, fenderwell type.
