In an article in issue #110, the 500 H.P. barrier has been passed again!. Once again under the talented hand of our moderator, Ted. While that Holy Grail figure is extremely impressive, what also caught my eye was the torque figures. The Y-Blk 352" engine, generated over 400 lb.ft. from 3300 RPM right thru to 6500 RPM., peaking at 450 lb.ft. at 5000 RPM. The average torque from 3000 RPM up was about 427 lb.ft.. Of course Mr Mummert also had a hand in it, supplying the aluminum 4 Bbl intake & heads. And this engine is to be streetable! Although by the cam timing I'd suspect it will be a bit on the rough side. I did note that the cam lobe centres are at 110 degrees, which if I understand that correctly, tends to bring the idle down some & possibly improves lower end torque? I'd like to know more about that area of engine performance. Anyway, an impressive performance, by all involved.
