Chuck. I did run the red bird Friday at their test and tune session. They would not let me run it during the Meltdown because of the rims even though they did have some prone to break down GM FED's without era correct rims run in an exhibition class. It ran 9.5's at 139 MPH. It has a 5.8 rear ratio and needs to be something lower for the 1/4, it must have been designed for an 1/8. I go thru the lights over 8000 RPM. Charlie, They have to look era correct from the stands but anything else goes. Most all of the cars have later then 1966 drive trains and they even use trans brakes at the line.

How strict were they about the 66 and earlier appearance? I was telling a friend about it on Friday and I mentioned that Chevys would have to be 327 based if a small block and no vortec heads and such. Then it also dawned on me that no aluminum headed y's should be permitted as you would not have seen that - unless someone got a hold of a Weslake engine to run. So I guess it depends just how anal they want to get about it.

I wish I had pictures but I was toooooo busy racing and figuring things out. Jerry Christenson beat Bob Martin for the shootout win. Bob broke out and I don't know what Jerry ran. The Fugitives beat us bad, hell I think that Jerry was the only one who beat any of the Fugitives. It was way too cool seeing all the old classics run. As for me I did beat 4 of the challengers during the outing while trying to figure out how to run with different tires. But Sunday I sucked!

She tries awful hard on my end and I spend a lot of time in the dog house for it, even spent a week in my garage recently sleeping on the floor, I am still fighting it tooth and nail, but she will probably prevail in the long run!
