Thankyou for getting back to me I appreciate your knowledge....Is it fair to say that the T-89 transmissions are a stronder unit then the T-85s? Are the gears intercangable? I, have a 57 Ranchero 312 engine with an origonal E-code setup....Modified cam M-260 that a friend recomended...The car is alot of fun nice torque and power....2yrs prior I had the same setup with a 272....Needless to say the 312 made a Smilenoticable differance....Safe motoring to you.....

Jeff

Thanks for the accolades guys.  It’s a once a year race and much easier to plan for than some of the other things I do.  Here are some pics I captured while standing around.

Hi Ted, I noticed you mentioned a t-85 transmission. I'm running with a T-85 also....It has T-85C on the case with an R11 J on the tail stock....The cover says T-89B...Is this a T-85 trans that I have or is it really a T-89? I have heard that the gears are differant between these two transmissions but I don't know if thats true? Appreciate your input...

Best regards, JeffSmile

As far as I know, the R11 od units come standard with the T-89 gear box.  The T-89 gear box is recognized by having offset shift levers coming out of the side cover while the T-85 levers are level with each other.  By the time I’m through fixing the overdrive unit in my ’55, it will likely be with a T-89 gear box with a R-11 overdrive.  I’ve just a bunch more of those parts than the others.

It has come to my attention that there are more than two TED's....

One at the shop, one at the dragstrip, one at the LS, now one hanging out near the border(Reo Grande)...

and of course the one who will sit with you and his wife in his truck on a cold day at the drag strip sipping hot coffee..talking shop...

Keep it going Ted...

Racing is fun, isn't it Wink. Ted, it is very addicting especially if get any success in it.

I've tried drag racing, track racing, rallying, street racing and the next will maybe be off road  racing... Think of a tube chassis off road monster with four wheel drive and four wheel steering and of course twin turboed Y-block with c4 tranny out of an old Bronco or something w00t

Hey Ted, you might as well throw together a circle track car and try your hand at that. You have done about everthing else. Drag racing, Salt flats, and now road racing, whats next?
