Chuck it is funny you should mention those I was just looking at the covers last week. I think they might help out how much I am not sure but worth a try. I have to do a little trimming because of the oil pan mods and belt driven oil pump but not to much trouble and the fact they are factory I cant see why they wouldn't be legal. Y-block Billy I would love to make it to Loring all the ECTA guys rave about it. Unfortunately I just got home from speed week and the wallet and vacation time took a hit so no Maine for me this year. I did get to meet Tim, Keith, and Ted so that was very cool. The Ranch Wagon made the 5000 mile trip with out a hick up.

You have to bring those LSR's up to Loring Nar 3 Miles of the smoothest concrete 8' thick. timed in the mile and mile and a half. plenty of headstart before the timing traps and near a mile to shut down. Haven't seen a Y there yet, would like to run my car but would be limited to 135 since no cage and only lap belt, even then I would probably have to put a 3 point somehow. Sam, Another off the wall suggestion. Those tin pans that fit between the frame and engine in the front. The ones that have almost always been thrown away. Could those improve airflow under the car? With the air moving through the radiator at speed I would think a negative pressure could build up there. I don't know where these ideas come from but I just keep getting them. Who knows one of my wild ideas might actually work. Chuck

I started LSR in 1975 with my 40 Chevrolet (I know a bad word but it didn't have a Chevrolet engine) My first rule book is a 1974. It contains 46 Pages and has all the Bonneville Records (cars no motorcycles) for that time. I have 1966 book which has 16 pages. The 2012 Rulebook has 246 pages and the "Classic" class has 8 paragraphs plus the listed classes. It's the other 50 pages you need to build your car too that's tough. Filled with required safety stuff, definitions, etc which will drive you nuts.. To give you an idea what 57 Ranchwagon is up aginst and Bonneville the C/CPro is 220+ mph and 205+ at El Mirage. Most of the classic class records are set by Chev (actually GM Monza's) the slipperyist car before 1981. I think what he's doing is great and when he gets to 140 at Bonneville he will be easing in on our hero Karol Miller and he would be proud. I hope to stop in and see him as I return home from a trip to Florida this summer. He recreated his Manderin Orange and Colonial White 56 Victoria a few years back and wanted to go to Bonneville but the strict rules prohibited it. I hoped he would take it to a USFRA meet which has a 130 and 150 MPH class withiout ALL the SCTA safety requirements but he was unable to do it. 57 and all Y-Block LSR participants..Good Luck...............................JD

Paul the C/CPRO stands for C/ Classic Production the first C is displacement of the engine. The C engine can be up to 372 CID. In production the body must be totally stock unchanged no wings splitters or aero improvements at all. The engine must be of the same family as the car came with. the classic means it was produced between 1948 and 1981. (the 1981 part is a little to liberal in my opinion). The engine can be modified but must retain stock exterior design (port, bore space etc). No modern fuel injection and no power adders in gas class. Chuck I'm sure your right about the scoop sadly per the rules there is very little that can be done to help it. Sam

Outstanding run! I think in the next few years a lot of Y-Block records are about to fall again! Noticed the air playing with the rear edge of the hood scoop. I can't help but think that indicated some turbulence. I wonder if there is some speed there? Chuck (who knows nothing about LSR cars)

What does the "C/C PRO class designation stand for. And what are the basic parameters of the class?

Thanks Keith i might be at speed week but only as a crew member or spectator. The record in my class at Bonnieville is 230 so it would take quite a bit of money just to be legal to run and there is no chance I can get anything close to that speed. I am thinking of trying for the 150 class at world of speed in sept. You and your crew would love it at wilmington and I want to see what your 32 can do I bet its would be impressive.
